At fifteen years old, Ava Murray’s short future seems to be set in stone. Because of an ancient curse, Atropos, the goddess responsible for death, must bind with Ava’s life thread to survive. 

 

However, it must be Ava’s choice, and Atropos has made her an offer she can’t refuse. She must perform three ritualistic sacrifices (a family member, a friend, and finally, her true love) before her sixteenth birthday. Should Ava refuse, everyone she’s ever cared about will die.

 

A spark of hope ignites when she meets Ransom, a mysterious boy who’s not only eager to help but has his own disturbing reasons for walking so close to death. 

 

However, it quickly fizzles when Ava realizes Ransom will be her final victim because she’s secretly fallen in love with him. Try as she may, she can’t stop her feelings from growing.
