Deadly Trust

She's caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse...and there's more than one cat.

Deadly Trust

Millie Smith has worked hard to set her life up perfectly. She has a job she loves, volunteers for a cause she's passionate about, and is self-sufficient in every sense of the word. She blends into the Charleston landscape as much as the live oaks, and that's just the way she wants it.

After being orphaned shortly after birth, losing her aunt at age eleven, and her guardians casting her aside soon after, she vowed never again to let anyone get close enough to hurt her. But after years of keeping her head down, Millie's suddenly attracting the wrong kind of attention.

Two months ago, she was involved in the murder of an unknown man and fled the scene after a warning to keep quiet or she'd be next. Then, an ambiguous new neighbor moves in next door. And finally, she's contacted by an attorney informing her that her anonymous father has been alive all this time and has left her a large trust. A bright spot until she finds out he's also left her something else - a dangerous, unidentified brother who's after the money.

With the other threats seemingly under control, Millie focuses her attention on her mysterious family. Not only is her brother actively hunting her down, but she can't rest until she knows why her father abandoned her. So, Millie turns to the only people who may know where to find them. The problem is, they're the same ones who deserted her all those years ago.

After an uncomfortable reunion, she discovers there are far more threats than she realized, and when everything starts pointing back to her dead mother's past, Millie knows she can't continue alone. But who can she trust? With stakes this high, one wrong move and she won't live to find out.
